Hello and welcome to our new blog promoting the work of the greenkeeping team of the North Berwick West Links. We are the custodians of a truly special and unique site and we aim to update members, visitors and those that have an interest in golf course maintenance of some of the work that we do.
Golf has been played over the West Links since the 17th century and is home to 3 clubs - The North Berwick Golf Club (which includes the North Berwick Ladies Golf Club), Tantallon Golf Club and Bass Rock Golf Club. With essentially four separate clubs playing their fixtures matches and bounce games on the course and the large visitor numbers we have, it is an extremely busy and popular course. We also boast a 9-hole Wee Course, which is a great facility for introducing kids to the game as well as providing a place for people just getting into golf to play with the "Get into Golf" initiative proving to be very popular.
As we add entries to this blog, we will provide updates on our regular maintenance practices, explaining why we do certain tasks, share some of the data that we collect and track progress of some of our on-course projects.
We hope you enjoy reading these updates from the course and team.
