Finally, after 18 months of planning, the rebuilding of of the Bulk Materials Building that was damaged during Storm Arwen has begun!!
Before and During Demolition
In November 2021, Storm Arwen produced wind speeds approaching 90mph and despite the course being relatively unscathed other than some of the blue bins blown away and some debris on the greens, the Bulk Materials Building took the brunt of the storm.
Choppy conditions on the course following Storm Arwen
The wind direction came from the North, directly across the bay from Fife and seemed to blow over our main building then swirling inside the open bays of the Bulk Materials Building blowing off the roof and taking down 2 steel beams that were holding the roof in place.
Three pictures showing the damage the following morning,
Thankfully our insurance covered the building and instructed Thomasons and Bell Building Project to start planning the rebuild.
The new building will be built to a similar size as the previous one except it will be almost a metre taller and the internal storage will be opened right up to incorporate the shed at the back into one open plan space meaning more space for tractor-mounted implements, furniture as well as a raking system for seeds, fertilisers and other materials.
As well as a new building, where the contractors have set up their compound has been dug out and spread with hardcore to create a compound that will be utilized by the greens team once the contractors have left the site. This is an invaluable space for us and will really tidy up our compound.

Whilst the works are ongoing, we will be tight for space around the compound and we do ask that golfers and members of the public walk around the site with caution as there will be a lot of heavy plant, machinery and workers. There will also be periods where we close access to the compound area off to walkers as the foundations and steel beam installation works are in progress.
