It’s come to that time of year when the growth is really starting to slow down, and the recovery of the turf becomes slower with the temperatures required for germination or good grass growth really dropping. Although November was fairly kind to us with some unusually mild days, between low temperatures, wind chill and frost becoming more regular, we bring in the use of mats on the fairways. The fairways have recovered well after a prolonged dry summer which monthly applications of wetting agent and fertiliser have put us in a good position going into winter. As we all know, Mother Nature is unpredictable and although winter has come in very tame, we don’t know what the New Year will have in store for us.
We will be implementing the fairways mats policy from the 12th December and ask that all golfers make sure they pick up a mat from the Starter’s Lodge before they head out. Play from mats will be required on fairways and approaches and not required from tees or semi-rough/rough. A mat is not required when using a putter from the fairway or approach.
We thank you all for your cooperation and rest assured that everything we do is with the golfer in mind and provide you all with the best course possible all year round.
Please can all members return mats after each round to the box outside the Clubhouse or to the Starters Lodge. In addition, any member who still has a mat or mats from last year, we would be grateful for these to be returned. This enables the Starters to have ample stock for all golfers on a daily basis.
